Boko Haram terrorists has completely burnt down houses and looted foodstuffs with hundreds of people displaced in last weekend attack of Thlaimaklama village in Chibok Local government area of Borno state.

Caretaker Chairman of Chibok Local Government Area of Borno state, Mr Yaga Yarkawa, has lamented on the renewed attacks perpetrated by Boko haram terrorists, insisting that with recent attacks on Thlaimaklama village over the weekend which has forced hundreds of people displaced after burning down houses and looting of foodstuff and livestock, Chibok is now under Boko Haram siege.

Mr Yaga Yarkawa disclosed this to Journalist on Monday night in Maiduguri where he had come to receive food items donated by the State Government for onward delivery to the displaced people.

He said, contrary to claims by the military that Chibok is safe, there has been series of renewed attacks on communities of Kuburmbula, Tsilari, Kamdzilari, Kuburnvwu , Kautikari, Kwada, Buftari and Kakulmari villages bordering Damboa and Sambia forest, adding that the latest one was the one that took place at the weekend in Thlaimaklama village where the insurgents carted away with 15 vehicles loaded with food items, after setting ablaze three vehicles and several number of houses without confrontation.

He pointed out that apart from attacking his communities this days, the terrorists have resorted to burning of farm produce of his people who had suffered during the season, and now eager waiting for harvest.

On effort put in place by the council to address the recurrent attacks, Yarakawa said:

“due to exploits of the insurgents, Kuburmbula, Tsilari, Kamdzilari, Kuburnvwu , Kautikari, Kwada, Buftari and Kakulmari villages bordering Damboa and Sambia forest, and Klaimakla communities which are still fully under the control of terrorists, the council formed vigilantee to keep watch even as we call for more military presence in the areas mentioned.”

Also speaking on the renewed attacks on Chibok, leader of vigilantee group in Chibok, Commander Aboku said that “the boko haram terrorists are always on the move and this makes it difficult to effectively monitor and apprehend them with ease.”

Aboku added that, just last week in the course of their operations, the vigilantees were able to dislodge some of the terrorists, killing two with recovery of two AK47 rifles and a Hilux vehicles mounted with anti aircraft gun.

He called on the Military to intensify more effort by giving the vigilantes free hands to operate, as they know the terrain of the Sambisa forest and the general operation area of Sambisa, Chibok and Gwoza local governments better.

A 22-Year-Old Mother Left Many In Shock After She Drowned Her Little Baby And Dumped The Body In A Pit Latrine.

There is something really wrong with this generation. This is obviously true after residents of Mathaithi village in Nyeri county of Kenya on Monday morning discovered that a 22-year old mother killed her three-month-old baby drowning the little child in a basin full of water before she dumped the lifeless body in a pit latrine.

What shocked police officers and locals in the area is that Nyawira surrendered herself to police officers and requested them to arrest her after committing the gruesome act, The Kenyans reported.

According to her, she felt guilty and haunted by her actions and opted to surrender to police officers.

Confirming the arrest, Mathira East OCPD Mathew Gwiyo, divulged that the woman would be arraigned in court after they are done with the investigations. Officers from fire brigade in Karatina retrieved the body from the 40-feet pit latrine in an exercise that lasted almost an hour.

Unbelievable! The Number Of People Who Tested Positive To HIV This Year In Lagos Will Shock You

It has been revealed that no fewer than 9, 579 people tested positive to HIV of the 616, 318 that attended the HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT) awareness programme from January to June, 2016.

According to Vanguard, Dr Oluseyi Temowo, the Chief Executive Officer, Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA), made this known on Wednesday in Lagos.

Temowo spoke at a news conference in Ikeja to mark the 2016 World AIDS Day with the theme: “Hands Up for #HIV Prevention’’.

United Nations had in 1988 declared every Dec.1 as the World AIDS Day.

This is to honour AIDS victims and focus on issues surrounding HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) and AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome).

Temowo said that in 2015, a total number of 599, 560 people were counselled, tested and received results out of which 15, 311 people were found to be positive.

The LSACA chief said that 52, 803 people living with the scourge were currently on Antiretrovirals (ARVs).

“These statistics simply means that there are many more people who are not aware that they have the virus, that is why knowing one’s status is very important.

 

“It is a common knowledge that an HIV positive person can be symptom free for 10 years and will continue to infect others, if not checked and treated.

 

“Being HIV positive does not translate to death with appropriate medications,” he said.

Temowo said that the agency had mobilised its HCT trucks to all the nooks and crannies of the state to conduct free HIV counselling and testing.

This, he said, would enable every Lagos resident to be aware of his or her health status.

Temowo said that access to HCT would allow individuals to know their status and take appropriate steps to prevent the transmission to other people. He said that this would also stop the progression to AIDS through lifestyle modification and health seeking behaviour.

According to him, this is geared toward achieving the eradication of the virus by 2030.

 

“Achieving AIDS free generation requires collective efforts, this is why we are calling on government at all levels, individuals and organisations to join us in this quest to make Lagos State an HIV Free Zone.

 

“We implore residents to visit all government hospitals within their areas to access free HCT, while HCT trucks will move around to reach other areas for this purpose.

 

“We also advise people to ensure these various means of prevention- condom use, harm reduction, voluntary medical male circumcision, prevention of mother-to-child transmission, counselling and testing,” he said.

The Lagos State Government has cancelled the monthly environmental sanitation exercise held every last Saturday of the month.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, who announced this in a statement said, “It is no longer appropriate to restrict movement of people for three hours in a mega city like Lagos at a time they should be pursuing commercial and entrepreneurial activities.

“In the last two decades, Lagos has grown exponentially into a mega city with the attendant huge environmental problems associated with managing a population of over twenty million people.

“But sadly, the environmental laws, policies and procedures being practiced in the State have not been able to match the phenomenal growth and the dream of a 24-hour economy, hence the need for the reform.”

I have been doing fine despite the fact that the industry has been badly affected by piracy and all that. I thank God every day.

How are you coping with economic recession?

What inspired it?

The message is that people should learn to invest; they can invest part of this money and save for the rainy day. Yes, life is a gamble in itself but we need to learn how to save for the rainy day and invest.

I am still a virgin (laughter). That would be when I grow up. Any questions about that?

You have a glowing skin. What is the secret?

It is God I must say.

Is there any special beauty routine that you have embarkrd on?

In the morning I exercise and take fruits. In the afternoon I eat like a queen and in the evening, I take something very small.

You often act action and violent roles in movies. Is that the real Lizzy Anjorin?

No, that is not the real me.

So, who is the real Lizzy Anjorin?

This is the real me. What you see on screen is what I mimic. I I can easily go into any cha acter and come back to my normal self. As an artiste you must be able to have your own personal life but when on set, immediately you hear ‘action’, you switch to the character you are depicting and after you are done you come back to your normal self immediately.

Aside acting, what else is Lizzy Anjorin up to?

I am also a designer. I design most of my wears. I have a clothes line.‎

‘Please No More ASUU Strikes’- Students Beg Union And Federal Government

Some students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka have appealed to the Federal Government to urgently look into grievances of striking lecturers to forestall incessant strikes in universities.

The students made the appeal in Nsukka on Tuesday while reacting to the ongoing warning strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

The President of the Students Union Government in the university, Mr. Emmanuel Chukwu, pleaded with President Muhammad Buhari to urgently resolve the crisis between the Federal Government and ASUU.

Chukwu said that this had become necessary in order to prevent disruption in the academic calendar of universities in the country.

Miss Amarachi Okafor of the Department of Psychology urged the Federal Government to dialogue with ASUU not to allow the strike snowballed into an indefinite one.

Okafor also pleaded with ASUU to consider the plight of students who would be spending extra years in the university, especially in this period of recession.

She said,

“The longer the strike lingers, the more the rate of crimes will increase and parents will be paying more for extra years spent in school.”

Another student, Mr Emmanuel Ochi of Mass Communication Department pleaded with ASUU to consider the interest of students in order not to constitute a setback to their academics.

She said,

“I want the Federal Government and ASUU to resolve their misunderstanding amicably in the interest of students and tertiary education in this country.

“Students have suffered enough over incessant strikes and we do not want a repeat of what happened in the last administration by ASUU.”

Academic activities have continued to be paralysed at the UNN over the warning strike by ASUU.

The chairman of UNN-ASUU chapter, Dr. Ifeanyi Abada, said that academic activities were grounded in the university in compliance with the directive by the National Executive Committee of ASUU.

He said,

“NEC made efforts to resolve this issue with government but it remained unyielding because of its insensitivity to issues concerning education.

“Since government failed to do the needful, ASUU is left with no option than to proceed on a one week warning strike and failure to meet with our demands we will go on an indefinite strike.”

Abada said that ASUU was not taking it lightly with government on issues raised, especially the demand that universities be exempted from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy.

He said,

“The strike compliance in UNN is total, no lectures, no examinations no departmental and faculty meetings as members will not participate.

“UNN chapter will not renege on the directive of the national body till government addresses all the issues raised.

“Our monitoring team is moving round and any lecturer found teaching will be sanctioned accordingly.”

Garba Shehu has dismissed suggestions that the masses will desert President Buhari in 2019 as unfounded and utterly ridiculous, and asserted that ordinary Nigerians are the backbone of his mandate and the only reason he ran for the office is to protect them against the rapacious merchants of corruption, who have held Nigeria back for decades.

Reacting to allegations by a former CPC member, Alhaji Buba Galadima that President Buhari would be abandoned by the people in 2019, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, said Galadima’s calculation and prediction is utterly confused and misleading.

He said the masses are solidly behind Buhari because he is not stealing their money and their future, that the President’s enormous goodwill remains ever strong because the people are convinced the President is acting in their best interest, despite the temporary unintended consequences of reforms.

President Muhammadu Buhari is far from isolation. He enjoys a very strategic relationship with ordinary Nigerians. This relationship is as solid a the proverbial rock.

If Buba Galadima thinks that because he has no role and no job in this government that means president is isolated he is putting himself up to ridicule.

According to him, Galadima cannot speak for the masses as far as their steadfast loyalty to Buhari is concerned. While acknowledging that Galadima was entitled to advance his own political agenda, Malam Garba said Galadima didn’t have the right to decide for ordinary voters.

Malam Garba Shehu recalled that Buba Galadima’s disagreement with President Buhari was based on principle.

He explained that President Buhari is committed to level playing field and would not want anyone to link his name to injustice.

The Presidential media aide said Galadima’s disagreement with Buhari started in 2011 when a group within the party, orchestrated an organizational mess by which the CPC embarked on the imposition and substitution of candidates for cash payments at the expense of those duly and democratically elected.

He said Muhammadu Buhari was embarrassed by the incidents and complaints about the imposition and substitution of candidates, adding that he, as a democrat, would not suppress the will of the people to please selfish interests.

Consequently he dispensed with the service, such as they are, of Buba Galadima; ran and won the 2015 Elections without them. Let Buba Galadima go to his constituency, stand for election and see what will happen to him, concluded Mal. Garba Shehu.

The End!! Soldiers Who Supply Arms To Militants Nabbed In Lagos

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP, Fatai Owoseni, on Monday disclosed that the Command arrested two Nigerian soldiers who allegedly supplied arms to militants.

The CP told newsmen the arrest was made after residents of Sixth Avenue in FESTAC Town alerted the police.

While displaying the recovered items before newsmen at the police headquarters, Owoseni said it would have been disastrous if the weapons had been used.

He said, “After the discovery, the police arrested Warrant Officer (WO) Longinus Madu, who is attached to 353 Field Artillery and another over the incident.

“Based on credible information, police operatives including operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS stormed Sixth Avenue in Festac and recovered two AK47 rifles, 24 AK47 rifle magazines and a Brownie pistol magazine. An alarming number of 951 7.62mm live ammunition, 110 7.65mm live ammunition, a mask, vehicle number-plates and charms were also recovered.

“The command is working hard to trace how the arms and ammunition got to the area and to ensure that whoever is connected with that discovery is brought to justice.

“This is a classic example of police-community partnership. The police in that community have gained confidence of the public that was why they offered information that led to the recovery.

“The destruction the weapons would have done if the criminals succeeded in their aim would have been disastrous,” the CP stated.

Several Boko Haram Fighters Killed In New Air Strikes In Borno State (Full Story)

The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has carried out multiple operations in northern Borno, during which its fighter pilots killed several Boko Haram terrorists.

According to a statement issued Tuesday by the Director, Public Relations and Information of the NAF, Grp Capt. Ayodele Famuyiwa, fighter jets bombarded a Boko Haram location at Kadari and killed an unspecified number of the insurgents.

Famuyiwa disclosed that the fighter jets also carried out airstrikes on selected Boko Haram targets at Ngoshe on November 18, 2016.

He said that the airstrikes were carried out following intelligence gathered by an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance aircraft which spotted a large number of insurgents at a meeting at Kadari.

Famuyiwa said that the attack carried out by a three-ship formation of the Alpha jet was part of the Operation Rescue Finale of the Nigerian Army.

According to him,

“The Nigerian Air Force fighter jets have attacked a number of Boko Haram Terrorist locations in Northern Borno, killing several insurgents. On 16th November 2016, an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance aircraft reported a gathering of BHTs under a tree at Kadari.

“An Alpha jet on armed reconnaissance was called in to strafe the location thus killing a number of the insurgents and causing survivors to flee in different directions. On November, 18 2016, NAF fighter jets again carried out a series of coordinated air strikes against BHT locations at Ngoshe.”

Horror! Mother Cries For Justice Over Beheading Of Her 3 Children

She said the three slain children were her 10-year-old girl, identified as Terdor, who is also the eldest; 8-year-old Terna Embelga, a boy; and another girl, Sulumshima Embelga, 6.

According to her, the three of them went to have their bath in a nearby stream called Jookwa alongside eight other children in the evening of October 30.

She narrated, “When they (all the 11 children) finished swimming, they decided to fetch water with their buckets for their use at home.

“On their homeward journey along the bush path, two men suddenly emerged from a farm rice and grabbed one of my three children in the group by the neck.

“While the other children in the group threw away the buckets of water they were carrying amid the ambush and ran for their dear lives, my two other children decided to fight back and rescue their sibling from the assailants.

“The escaped children brought the news home. Immediately, my husband, fellow villagers and I mobilised to the scene of the attack where we found the headless bodies of the three children in the pool of their blood. It was horrifying.

“Beholding the headless bodies, I thought I would die. There were other items lying on the ground at the scene of the crime.

“The items include a weird looking cap, substances believed to be hard drugs and a blood stained shirt.

“We didn’t see the heads of the children. They may have been taken away for ritual purposes.

“I had four children. With three of them killed in cold blood, I am left with only one that I am breastfeeding. It all shows the seriousness of the insecurity in the land.”

Taraba State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP David Misal, confirmed the incident and said the command was investigating the crime, adding that no arrest has been made so far.
